Devil genome being mapped in USA
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island, is contributing resources to mapping the Tasmanian devil's genome.
Says David L Spector, director of research, "Our efforts to sequence the devil's genome mark the first time anyone has attempted to use the technology for exploring this particular type of cancer biology."
Professor Gregory Hannon notes that "A cure for the devil may have applications for humans as well."
